Bringing you the current happenings in the EDI world.

Industry updates

Health Index registrations open

This year’s Health Index – an initiative run by TIDE to help companies improve their equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) practices – is now open for registrations! The Index not only provides businesses with a clear picture of their EDI maturity but also helps TIDE identify areas where further support might be needed and track sector progress over time.

The Health Index opens on 1 April 2025 and will be live for roughly three weeks until 20 April. To take part, companies must have registered online by 17 March. There will also be a webinar on 3 March – learn more and register.

We’d also really appreciate your support in raising awareness of the Health Index across the sector, so please do reshare TIDE’s post on LinkedIn, or comment and tag people underneath. The more companies that take part, the more accurate the data set will be.

Women in Utilities Awards nominations

Nominations for this year’s Women in Utilities Awards are now open! This award event is a pioneering tribute to the remarkable achievements of women in the utilities sector and the organisations and individuals that champion them. Entry deadline 14th March.

Save the date: EDI in Energy Conference

The annual EDI in Energy Conference will return on 15 July 2025, sponsored by Policy by Murray and supported by Ofgem, ENA, Energy Institute and Energy UK.

The agenda is being finalised, so if you have a project, good practice case study or network you’d like to share – please get in touch at diversity@energy-uk.org.uk.

Top tip: Safe spaces and quiet places

Having dedicated spaces for attendees to step away from the busyness of panels and networking is vital to creating a welcoming and comfortable event for all guests. It’s also key to recognise the difference between somewhere attendees can step out to take a phone call or meeting, and prioritising safe, quiet spaces for people to take a breather. This is particularly important if your event covers sensitive or challenging topics.
