EDI ‘belief gap’ reflected in digital exclusion, report finds
There is a significant ‘belief gap’ between the commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) principles and their practical implementation in the energy sector’s digital design processes, according to new research from the IGNITE Network+ working with Cranfield University. The project, Navigating EDI Complexity, indicated a structural failure of organisational structures and digital inclusion to reflect the commitment to inclusivity of professionals working in the energy space.

Women on boards continue to rise but more needs to change
Female representation in leadership roles within the largest UK firms has continued to climb, with 43% of board roles across FTSE 350 companies held by women, according to the government-backed FTSE Women Leaders Review. Most sectors in the UK have contributed to the growth of more gender balanced boards, although energy is among the sectors that has experienced a decline since 2021. Vivienne Artz, chief executive of the FTSE Women Leaders Review, said female CEOs still experience “a lot more scrutiny” than their male counterparts and that attitudes need to change.
