Women on boards continue to rise but more needs to change

Female representation in leadership roles within the largest UK firms has continued to climb, with 43% of board roles across FTSE 350 companies held by women, according to the government-backed FTSE Women Leaders Review. Most sectors in the UK have contributed to the growth of more gender balanced boards, although energy is among the sectors that has experienced a decline since 2021. Vivienne Artz, chief executive of the FTSE Women Leaders Review, said female CEOs still experience “a lot more scrutiny” than their male counterparts and that attitudes need to change.
